Mary Jean Schmeisser

LAKE MILLS -- Mary Jean Schmeisser, 93, Lake Mills, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at the Rainbow Hospice Center in Johnson Creek.

She was born on Sept. 9, 1924, in Antigo, the daughter of the late William and Anna (Brennan) Soman.

Mary Jean married Frederick J. Schmeisser on Sept. 4, 1945, in Antigo. He died on Sept. 10, 1973.

She was a graduate of Antigo High School, class of 1942. Mary Jean then attended Stout University for three years.

She was a member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Mary Jean had done office work at the Muck Farms in Lake Mills for a number of years. She enjoyed furniture refinishing, quilting and served 23 years as a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul.

Survivors include three sons, Thomas (Nancy) of Boston, Massachusetts, James (Diane) of Lake Mills and John of Lakeville, Minnesota; one daughter, Jane (Bob) Schultz of Hartford; daughter-in-law, Alyson Schmeisser of Lake Mills; eight grandchildren, Joseph (Jennifer) Schmeisser, Leslie (Craig) Batzler, Rebecca (Colin) McKean, Libby (Robert) Dahlke, Megan Schmeisser, Matthew Schultz, Mark Schmeisser and Emily Schultz; and six great-grandchildren, James, Frederick, Owen, Franklin, Seamus and Jack.

Also preceding her in death was a son, William P. Schmeisser, and infant son, Robert “Bobby” Scott Schmeisser.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father David Wanish officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery in Johnson Creek. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.

If desired, memorials may be directed to the William P. Schmeisser Memorial Fund to benefit the Lake Mills High School students.
