Gunfire Leads to Arrest of Lowell Man
LOWELL -- Reports of gunshots heard in the Highlands neighborhood early Saturday morning led to the arrest of a 20-year-old man and the discovery of a firearm, authorities say.
Lowell police charged Jordan Bunting, 20, who stays at the Lowell Transitional Living Center, with carrying a firearm without a license, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammo, discharging a gun within 500 feet of a dwelling and assault with a dangerous weapon.
Police responded to 1892 Middlesex St. after receiving a call of shots fired at around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Lowell police Capt. James Hodgdon.
“Officers discovered a large party at this location and subsequently recovered a firearm under a vehicle and five shell casings,” Hodgdon said.
An investigation into the incident led to Bunting’s arrest. He is slated to be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Monday.
Three juveniles were also arrested at the scene for crimes unrelated to the shots-fired call, Hodgdon said.
