Dove season opens Saturday
NORFOLK - Hunters will be heading outdoors Saturday as dove season officially opens.
Wildlife District Manager with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission Lucas Negus says the dove season includes mourning doves and also the Eurasian collared doves, which can be hunted year round.
Negus says just like with every hunting season, you want to be safe and make sure you’re aware of your surroundings especially if you’re on public property.
“Being a September 1st opener, it’s kind of the traditional chance to get out there for hunters. If you got the right spot there are numerous, they’re fun to target and try to go out and chase, and the weather is typically nice. It’s a good kickoff” Negus said.
He says also make sure you have a valid Nebraska small game permit.
He says there is daily bag and possession limits of 15 and 45, respectively.
