Gore Heading to Poland, Ukraine
WASHINGTON (AP) _ Vice President Al Gore plans to travel to Poland next week to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. He then will meet the new Ukrainian president in Kiev.
Gore is leading the American delegation to the Polish ceremonies Aug. 1. While in Warsaw, he will meet with Polish President Lech Walesa and Prime Minister Waldemar Pawlak.
The vice president is scheduled to meet Aug. 2 with Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, who was inaugurated as the second president of an independent Ukraine on July 19. Gore also will meet with leading members of the Ukrainian parliament during the visit.
