November 25, 2018

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Humanities Council has awarded more than $115,000 in grants to programs across the state, including the Salmon Arts Council and the Museum of Idaho in Idaho Falls.

The Post Register reports the money was split among 34 individual grants, including 28 for various public humanities programs and three teacher incentive grants. The money comes in part from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Among the awards was more than $1,500 to the Salmon Arts Council to host a program that examines the journey immigrants took from the turmoil of the famine in Ireland to the promise of America. The Living Voices “The New American” program will be presented next February.

The Museum of Idaho in Idaho Falls was awarded $4,000 to expand a new “Way Out West” exhibit that explores the history of eastern Idaho.
