Darlington firefighters battle mill blaze

Darlington firefighters Chase Bailey and Andy Rheuark Sunday morning battle a fire in a pile of cotton seeds at the Hartsville Oil Mill on Washington Street in Darlington.

DARLINGTON, S.C. -- Darlington firefighters Sunday morning responded to the Hartsville Oil Mill on Washington Street.

City Planner Lisa Rock said that cotton seed being stored on site caught fire and that firefighters had the fire under control by about 10 a.m.

Darlington Fire Chief Pat Cavanaugh said firefighters arrived on scene at 9:22 and spent about four hours extinguishing the blaze.

Medics with Darlington County EMS responded to the blaze in support of firefighters.
