—GOVERNOR-COAL COMPANY SETTLEMENT, from Charleston: A judge has ordered a coal company owned by West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice’s family to start making payments on a settlement.

—FALL FOLIAGE, from Charleston: Warm weather has delayed the changing colors of the trees in West Virginia, with the best locations to see fall foliage in the higher elevations in the eastern part of the state.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Oklahoma’s chances of reaching college football’s playoff may have been washed down the Red River last weekend, and there is a good chance the Big 12′s championship aspirations went right with them.

BIG 12 THIS WEEK

UNDATED — Sixth-ranked West Virginia is the Big 12′s last remaining undefeated team. The Mountaineers, with Heisman Trophy-contending quarterback Will Grier, play at Iowa State, which is on its third quarterback this season.
