Chance to sign up for kindergarten set for Feb. 21

Children who will be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2019 can be signed up to attend kindergarten.

The Lake Havasu Unified School District is offering free full-day kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year. Kindergarten Registration Night is at every elementary school on Feb. 21. Times vary at the different schools.

Parents should choose the home school closest to home. To determine which school is tied to a certain geographic location, call the school district at 928-505-6900.

Registration times are as follows:

Havasupai Elementary library, 880 Cashmere Dr. 5 p.m.

Jamaica Elementary gym, 3437 S. Jamaica Blvd. 6 p.m.

Nautilus Elementary library, 1425 Patrician Dr. 5:30 p.m.

Oro Grande Elementary library, 1250 Pawnee Dr. 5:30 p.m.

Smoketree Elementary library, 2395 Smoketree Ave. 5 p.m.

Starline Elementary library, 3150 Starline Dr., 6 p.m.

Parents must bring the child’s original birth certificate, current immunization record and Arizona proof of residency documentation

Proof of residency includes a valid Arizona driver’s license, Arizona identification card or motor vehicle registration. Other acceptable documentation: real estate deed or mortgage documents, property tax bill, residential lease or rental agreement, utility bill (water, electric, gas, cable or phone), bank or credit card statement, W-2 wage statement, payroll stub, certificate of tribal enrollment or other identification issued by a recognized Indian tribe that contains an Arizona address or documentation from a state, tribal or federal government agency (Social Security Administration, Veteran’s Administration, Arizona Department of Economic Security).

The school district requires a standardized shirt for all students K-12 for the 2019-2020 school year. Each standardized shirt for elementary students cost $5. Parents may pre-order shirts at kindergarten registration.

Child care will not be available during the event. If possible, don’t bring children so parents can focus on filling out enrollment paperwork.
