GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) _ The Great Falls Dodgers lost their franchise with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday, only hours before winning the Pioneer League championship series.

The Dodgers said they will not extend the contract with Great Falls, after 19 years with the Rookie League club.

``They wanted out,″ Great Falls general manager Jim Keough said. ``So we’re going to start a new relationship with a team that wants to be here.″

Keough said he has talked with the Milwaukee Brewers, the Kansas City Royals, the Chicago White Sox and the Texas Rangers.

``The ball’s in our court,″ Keough said. ``We want to be selective, and get the best team that fits the Great Falls community.″

After losing the first game of a doubleheader Thursday 5-4, Great Falls won the decisive game of the best-of-three series with a 3-1 victory.

Great Falls won the first game of the title series, 7-3 Monday night.
