Letter to the editor: Why won’t Wolf debate Wagner?

September 7, 2018

Misinformation and half-truths have plagued how our society shares information. Our current political climate is more polarized than ever and it’s nearly impossible to distinguish between fact and fiction. In November, we have a big decision ahead of us when we vote for our next governor. When I cast my vote, I need to know who I’m really voting for. I can’t be the only one who wants this transparency, which is why I don’t understand why Tom Wolf refuses to debate Scott Wagner.

Wagner has offered Wolf the opportunity to share who he is and what his positions are with Pennsylvanians in all 67 counties. While Wagner has accepted 12 other debate invitations, Wolf has declined every offer. Wagner is clearly willing to get in front of us and talk about the issues. Gov. Wolf, why won’t you do the same?

I need to know where both candidates stand on the issues and how they plan to strengthen Pennsylvania. If they won’t debate, whichever candidate engages with us will be getting my vote come November. I haven’t decided who I will be voting for, but if Wolf refuses to share his ideas and defend his record, I will be supporting Wagner.
