Lawrence County man named to Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame
COLUMBUS — A Lawrence County man is among just 20 from around the state who will be inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Class of 2018.
Orville “Dean” Cooper, an Army veteran, was chosen from among 119 nominations to join the Veterans Hall of Fame this year, according to a news release from the Lawrence County Veterans Service Commission.
This year’s class joins the 854 Ohio veterans who have been inducted since 1992 and represent all eras and branches of service. Since 1992, there have been five veterans from Lawrence County inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame:
• Joseph Kimball
• Donald R. Long
• James W. Parks
• William H. Powell
• Bernard Shields
The 2018 inductees will be honored for their accomplishments and achievements at the 26th Annual Induction Ceremony in November for their post military service. This class of candidates represents 13 Ohio Counties and four military branches.
Induction of the 2018 Class of the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame will take place on Thursday, Nov. 8, at Radiant Life Church, 7100 Post Road, Dublin, Ohio.
