LOS ANGELES (AP) _ A judge has issued a warrant for Leif Garrett after the former teen heartthrob failed to appear for a drug hearing.

Superior Court Judge Maral Injejikian issued the bench warrant Wednesday when Garrett failed to appear for a status hearing on how his drug rehabilitation was progressing.

On June 29, 1999, Garrett was among a group of people arrested in a police narcotics sting at a downtown apartment building. He posted a $10,000 bond and was freed after he was booked for possession of heroin and cocaine.

Last August, the judge praised Garrett for sticking to a program that was part of a 1999 agreement in which Garrett pleaded guilty to drug possession. As part of treatment, he agreed to drug testing, counseling and anti-drug classes.

The 39-year-old, who appeared on numerous covers of ``Tiger Beat'' magazine in the '70s, had hits including ``I Was Made For Dancin'.''
