Mavericks Re-Sign Davis, Trent
DALLAS (AP) _ The Dallas Mavericks re-signed free agents Hubert Davis and Gary Trent on Tuesday.
Terms of the contracts were not released, but Trent, who opted out of his contract on July 1, was expected to sign a one-year deal that will raise his salary from $2.2 million to $2.4 million.
Davis had rejected a one-year offer worth $3.5 million, even though the six-year value of his previous contract was just $4.5 million.
Davis, an eight-year pro from North Carolina, played in 79 games for the Mavericks last season and averaged 7.4 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. He led the NBA in three-point shooting at 49.1 percent.
Trent, a forward, was limited to 11 games due to groin and hamstring injuries. He averaged 13.7 points and 4.7 rebounds in 27.4 minutes per game.
