Man injured after brother slaps shooter’s gun away during fight outside Cleveland bar

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Maple Heights man was shot after his brother slapped a gun someone pointed at them during an argument outside a bar, police said.

The shooting happened about 2:30 a.m. Saturday outside Malibu Joe’s bar on East 71st Street and Alice Avenue in the city’s Broadway-Slavic Village neighborhood.

The 26-year-old Maple Heights man and his brother got into an argument with a man sitting inside a black Volvo, police reports say.

The man in the car pulled out a gun during the argument and pointed it at the brothers, police reports say.

The older brother slapped the man’s gun. The gunman fired at least six gunshots at the duo, police reports say.

A bullet hit the 26-year-old man in the left thigh, police reports say. The man’s girlfriend drove him to MetroHealth, where he refused to cooperate with police, according to police reports.
