Stamford woman accused of attacking housemates

December 31, 2018

STAMFORD — A city woman spent part of Sunday morning in a holding cell after police say she tore into her housemates’ bedroom with a machete.

Anne Nelson, 52, smashed through a bedroom door of her Stillwater Avenue home with the rainforest-clearing tool around 4:30 a.m. Sunday before dropping the knife, according to police.

Sgt. Robert Shawinsky said Nelson punched one man in the face and choked the other roommate.

Shawinsky said Nelson ignored officers’ orders and was placed in handcuffs. Shawinsky said she then spit in the officers’ faces.

Reading from a report, Shawinsky noted that officers knew Nelson to be combative — kicking and spitting — from prior run-ins.

Shawinsky said the victims declined medical treatment.

Nelson has been charged with third-degree assault, threatening, criminal mischief and assaulting a police officer.
