Mild Quake Rattles Central Mexico
MEXICO CITY (AP) _ An 5.9-magnitude earthquake rattled central Mexico early today, but no damage was reported in either Mexico City or the Pacific coast area near the quake’s epicenter.
Most residents of Mexico City were asleep and did not feel the quake.
The earthquake occurred at 5:48 a.m. and was centered 45 miles off Mexico’s southern Pacific coast, the National Seismological Institute reported. The epicenter was 75 miles southeast of the resort of Acapulco in Guerrero state.
The state government of Guerrero and a Mexico City civil defense official said said no damages or injuries had been reported.
