Charges Dropped Against Photographer
DETROIT (AP) _ A judge has dismissed contempt-of-court charges against a Detroit Free Press editor and a photographer accused of photographing a trial witness improperly.
Photographer Richard Lee and City Editor Carole Lee Hutton were cited during the trial of three police officers in the beating death of Malice Green.
Lee was accused of taking photos of a witness against orders from Detroit Recorder’s Court Judge William Crockett.
Another Recorder’s Court judge, Dalton Roberson, signed an order Thursday saying there was no contempt in the newspaper’s publication of a photo of the witness. The photo was taken outside the courthouse; Crockett had banned photos of him in the court building.
