Washington ends Creighton’s run in the second round of the NCAA tournament with sweep
Washington ended No. 9 Creighton’s season with a 25-19, 25-21, 25-23 sweep in the second round of the NCAA volleyball tournament Saturday in Omaha.
The Bluejays hit just .113 against No. 22 Washington. Taryn Kloth led Creighton with 11 kills while Brittany Witt had 15 digs. Jaali Winters had eight kills and seven digs.
Madelyn Cole and Samantha Bohnet each had two ace serves for Creighton.
Samantha Drechsel had 14 kills to lead the Huskies, who hit .240 as a team. Shayne McPherson had a pair of ace serves, and the Huskies racked up 14½ total team blocks.
The loss snapped a 21-match win streak and a 15-match home win streak for the Bluejays, who finished the season 29-5. The 29 wins are tied for the most in school history.
Washington will move on to play Penn State next Friday in the Sweet 16. The NCAA will announce the site within the next 24 hours.
