Tulane to close Biloxi campus, citing low enrollment
BILOXI, Miss. (AP) — A New Orleans university is closing a satellite campus in Mississippi.
WLOX-TV reports Tulane University is closing its Biloxi campus, citing enrollment of just 92 students.
Officials say no new students will be enrolled. However, the school says it will continue classes for those seeking degrees, possibly through next fall. If students don’t complete degrees before Tulane closes the campus, the university says it will help students transfer their credits to another college.
Tulane has operated a Mississippi Gulf Coast campus since 2001, with enrollment peaking at 205 students in 2011. The university moved into Biloxi’s Edgewater Mall in 2015.
The university earlier closed a second Mississippi satellite campus in the Jackson suburb of Madison.
Besides its main campus, Tulane also offers classes in the New Orleans suburb of Elmwood.
