WEBBERVILLE, Mich. (AP) _ A tornado skipped across central and southeastern Michigan, knocking down a house and damaging other buildings and vehicles, authorities said. No injuries were reported.
Multiple sightings of the tornado were reported Thursday night in Ingham and Livingston counties.
By Friday morning, the line of storms had dissipated and moved into Indiana and Ohio. No severe weather was reported in Ohio, and some scattered thunderstorms were expected Friday in southern central Indiana, according to the National Weather Service.
The tornado knocked down a home with several people inside in Leroy Township, near Webberville, said sheriff’s Sgt. Mark Filice. He said the occupants escaped unharmed.
The twister also destroyed a Leroy Township barn housing 40 young cattle, many of which were killed or pinned under the rubble, farm owner Rosalie Marion told the Lansing State Journal.
The tornado forced the 10 patrons and staff into the basement of the Bloated Goat Saloon in nearby Fowlerville.
``It got pretty intense, the rain and wind,″ server Lori Smyth said.
The group spent about five minutes below ground before returning to the bar, Smyth said.
Webberville is about 24 miles southeast of Lansing, the state capital.
