Charges accuse man of driving car into St. Louis-area bar
EUREKA, Mo. (AP) — A 26-year-old man is charged with driving while intoxicated causing serious physical injury for allegedly smashing his car into a St. Louis-area bar.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 26-year-old Christopher Zotta also is charged with leaving the scene of an accident with physical injury. Both charges, filed Thursday, are felonies. Zotta is jailed on $25,000 bond and does not have a listed attorney.
Eureka police were called to Poor Richard’s Restaurant Wednesday night. The driver had left after backing into the restaurant, but witnesses followed him and he was arrested several miles away.
The injuries to the patrons are not considered life-threatening.
The building was badly damaged.
Eureka is 28 miles southwest of St. Louis.
