Sherrod Brown considering 2020 presidential bid: Report

November 12, 2018

Sen. Sherrod Brown is the latest Democrat to float his name as a potential 2020 presidential contender.

The Ohio senator said in an interview that he’s hearing “sort of a crescendo” from voters who want him to run for the White House.

“We’re hearing it increase, so we’re thinking about it as a result,” he told The Columbia Dispatch, though he noted, “we’re not close to saying yes.”

Mr. Brown won his re-election campaign on Tuesday, defeating Republican challenger James Renacci by about 6 percent.

The senator will join an increasingly crowded field of suspected 2020 hopefuls, including former Vice President Joseph R. Biden, California Sen. Kamala Harris and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

An ex-aide for former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton hinted she may even join the race in two years.
