Bruins beat Sharks 1-0

SAN JOSE, California (AP) — Carl Soderberg scored the lone goal with 7:35 remaining and Tuukka Rask bounced back from a rough stretch to post his NHL-leading fifth shutout of the season as the Boston Bruins beat the San Jose Sharks 1-0 on Saturday.

Soderberg knocked a loose puck past Antti Niemi for his sixth goal to salvage the finale of Boston’s three-game California swing.

Niemi made 21 saves for the Sharks, who had their six-game home winning streak snapped and were shut out at home for the first time since Feb. 9, 2013.

Pittsburgh’s Chris Kunitz and Matt Niskanen scored and Marc-Andre Fleury made 27 saves as the Penguins handed the Calgary Flames a team-record sixth consecutive regulation loss at home 2-1.

Fleury nearly became the sixth goalie in eight games to shut out the Flames, but Mikael Backlund cut into a 2-0 deficit with a goal at 11:29 of the third period. That ended Calgary’s goal-less stretch at a team-record 196 minutes, 59 seconds.

At Philadelphia, Valtteri Filppula scored the go-ahead goal during a wild second period as the Tampa Bay Lightning won 6-3 to end the Flyers’ 10-game, home-winning streak.

Ryan Malone had two goals, and Alex Killorn, Teddy Purcell, and Martin St. Louis also scored for the Lightning.

Jakub Voracek had two goals, and Wayne Simmonds added one for the Flyers.

The New Jersey Devils beat the Florida Panthers 2-1 after Marek Zidlicky scored with 2.1 seconds showing on the overtime clock.

With just over 3 seconds to go, the Devils called a timeout before the final faceoff. Travis Zajac beat Marcel Goc on the draw, and Jaromir Jagr nudged the puck back to the top of the right circle to Zidlicky, who ripped a shot that beat screened goalie Tim Thomas.

Jagr earned his 1,724th NHL point, moving him ahead of former teammate Mario Lemieux and into seventh place on the league’s career scoring list.

Hampus Lindholm scored two goals for Anaheim as the Ducks won for the 16th time in 17 games with a 5-3 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes.

Ryan Getzlaf scored his 23rd goal of the season in the Ducks’ sixth straight win. Sami Vatanen and Dustin Penner also scored as the Ducks swept the five-game season series with the Coyotes.

Jonas Hiller made 28 saves in his 13th straight win for Anaheim, the NHL’s longest streak since Detroit’s Chris Osgood did it in 1996.

In other games, the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1 in overtime, the Columbus Blue Jackets thrashed the Winnipeg Jets 6-3, the Ottawa Senators beat the Nashville Predators 2-1 after a shootout, the Colorado Avalanche were 4-2 winners over the Minnesota Wild and the Detroit Red Wings downed the Los Angeles Kings 3-1.
