HUNTINGTON — Approximately 20 volunteers with Huntington in Bloom worked Tuesday evening to put out flowers and decorations welcoming the autumn season in the downtown area.

Volunteers placed bales of hay, pumpkins and cornstalk arrangements to complement the nonprofit organization’s spring beautification efforts held in May. They placed fall flowers and decorations near large clay pots situated throughout downtown.

Now in its sixth year, Huntington in Bloom is a year-round venture that relies on donations from the community and volunteers to do the work. The organization began in early 2013 while the city participated in the nationwide “America in Bloom” competition. Even though the city only entered the competition that initial year, Huntington in Bloom continues its work to beautify the city.
