Marcus Mariota to start at QB for Tennessee
Marcus Mariota is starting at quarterback for Tennessee on Sunday for the first time since being hurt in the Titans’ season opener.
The Titans will be without backup QB Blaine Gabbert as he recovers from a concussion that knocked him out of last week’s game, a win at Jacksonville.
That leaves Austin Davis, signed earlier this week, as Mariota’s backup.
Alshon Jeffery will make his season debut for the Eagles, and Philadelphia gets running back Jay Ajayi back after he missed a game with a back injury. But Darren Sproles is out against Tennessee.
Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy is active for the game against the Green Bay Packers after missing last week’s win over the Vikings with an injury to his rib cartilage. McCoy was limited in practice this week.
The Packers will be without starting receiver Randall Cobb, who hurt his hamstring in practice this week. Green Bay is down two other starters in cornerback Kevin King (groin) and right guard Justin McCray (shoulder).
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is active again. He’s playing through a left knee injury. Outside linebacker Nick Perry is also active after missing a couple days of practice while going through the concussion protocol.
Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman is missing his third straight game against the Cincinnati Bengals with a sore right knee, as expected. Freeman was listed as limited in practices on Thursday and Friday.
The Bengals also are without their starting running back, Joe Mixon, for the second straight week after having debris removed from his right knee.
All-Pro receiver Deandre Hopkins is expected to start for Houston despite dealing with thumb, ankle and hamstring injuries. He has caught a pass in all 82 games he’s played during his career.
Colts left tackle Anthony Castonzo will miss his fourth straight game with an injured hamstring. Indy also will be playing without three other starters: running back Marlon Mack (hamstring), cornerback Quincy Wilson (concussion) and tight end Jack Doyle (hip). Mack and Doyle have missed each of the past two games with injuries.
