Two motorcyclists injured after blown tire on I-90
Two motorcyclists were injured Wednesday when a tire blew as they entered the highway.
According to a Minnesota State Patrol report, Jimmy Spelts, 48, and Darlene Spelts, 58, both of Portsmouth, Va., were eastbound on Interstate 90 on the ramp to U.S. Highway 109 when the rear tire of their 2009 Honda motorcycle blew just after 3 p.m., causing the bike to tip on its side.
Both were transported to the Albert Lea Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No update on their conditions was available this morning. They were both wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
Alden First Responders, the Freeborn County Sheriff’s office and Gold Cross assisted at the scene.
