MAGIC MUSHROOMS-DENVER VOTE

DENVER _ Voters on Tuesday could make Denver the first U.S. city to decriminalize psilocybin — the psychoactive substance in “magic mushrooms” — and add a new chapter to the city’s role in shaping wider drug policy. A citizen initiative on the ballot has followed the same tack taken by marijuana activists to decriminalize pot possession in 2005 in the city. The move was followed by statewide legalization in 2012. A number of other states followed and broadly allow marijuana use and sales by adults. By Kathleen Foody. COLORADO-URANIUM _ A federal judge has lifted an injunction on southwest Colorado uranium mining after a review found it did not have harmful effects on certain fish. The Journal reported Monday that a U.S. Department of Energy mining program was blocked in 2011 to conduct additional environmental review on the impacts on four endangered fish species in the Colorado River.

COLORADO-GUARD GRABS PROTESTER _ A school security guard has been filmed grabbing and pulling a protester at a town hall event for Colorado’s governor. KKTV reported Monday that the disturbance occurred as Democratic Gov. Jared Polis left the meeting Saturday at Sierra High School in Colorado Springs.

INTERSTATE 70-ROCKSLIDE _ A portion of Interstate 70 in western Colorado remains closed as crews try to prevent another rockslide. A slide on I-70 in De Beque Canyon on Sunday disabled two cars and injured two people. Their injuries were described as minor to moderate.

COLORADO DROUGHT _ The drought that gripped Colorado for much of 2018 is almost officially over thanks to a snowy winter. Last Thursday’s official update from the United States Drought Monitor, only a tiny sliver of the southwest corner of Colorado along the New Mexico border remains in a drought.

TEEN DEATH-CANAL _ The bodies of a teen missing since Sunday and his dog have been found in a canal in western Colorado. Seventeen-year-old Connor Imus was reported missing after he failed to turn up at work on Sunday.
