1st Conn. ski area opens for the season
How cold is it?
Cold enough for the first ski area in Connecticut to kick off its season.
Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall, which turns 71 years old this season, began its season on Friday.
It posted on its Facebook page: “Opening day is Friday, November 23. $25 lift tickets. All season passesa valid at anytime until further notice. See you on the slopes.”
It only has one trail open; its Pine Slope. More could open later today.
Connecticut’s three other areas, Ski Sundown in New Hartford, Mount Southington and Powder Ridge Mountain Park have not yet announced opening dates.
Mohawk was one first ski areas that had snowmaking.
Many other ski areas across the Northeast are enjoyed good early season conditions.
