Red Sox Send 6 to Minors

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP)_ The Boston Red Sox returned outfielder Dernell Stenson and five other players to the minors Saturday in the team’s first cuts of spring training.

Stenson was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket, where he hit .268 with 23 homers in 98 games last year. In spring training, he was 1-for-10. In his last game, he struck out and grounded into a double play Friday.

The Red Sox also returned five players to their minor league camp, pitchers Casey Fossum and Carlos Castillo, catcher Angelo Encarnacion, outfielder Yamil Benitez and first baseman Juan Diaz.
