REEDSBURG — Police say a Sauk County Board member was caught stealing from two Reedsburg businesses.

The Reedsburg Police Department reports that Sauk County Board Supervisor Wally Czuprynko of Lake Delton was cited for two counts of retail theft after he was identified in surveillance photos taken from the affected stores.

The police department said in a news release that it received two reports of retail theft from the businesses, and the reporting parties provided similar descriptions of the suspect.

A still photo of the suspect was posted online, and several anonymous callers identified the person as Czuprynko. The thefts allegedly occurred Jan. 5.

Police made phone contact with Czuprynko, and allege that during the call he admitted to the thefts. Czuprynko can either pay the fines and restitution or appear in Reedsburg Municipal Court to contest the citations, according to the police department.

Police say the value of the stolen items was less than $10.

Czuprynko’s supervisory district includes Wards 1 and 2 in the village of Lake Delton. He did not immediately return a message seeking comment Wednesday afternoon.
