CHILD KILLED-NEW TRIAL

IOWA CITY _ At three trials over 30 years, a key prosecution witness has testified consistently: He saw Stanley Liggins with 9-year-old Jennifer Lewis shortly before she was kidnapped, raped and left burnt to death in Davenport in 1990. At each trial, Antonio Holmes said in response to questions from prosecutors that he did not receive any benefits in exchange for his testimony, which helped convict Liggins. But newly unearthed records show that those statements were false and that prosecutors almost certainly knew they were but elicited them, anyway. By Ryan J. Foley. SENT: 750 words.

ARSON ARREST _ A suspect has been arrested in an eastern Iowa fire that injured two people.
