STAMFORD — Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church donated 55 backpacks stuffed with school supplies in honor of school starting this week.
Parishioners Gloria Morrow and Arlene Benedict coordinated the community outreach project for Saint Andrew’s and arranged for the backpacks to be sent to families cared for by Inspirica and the Domestic Violence Crisis Center.
Insprica is a Stamford-based organization helping to break the cycle of homelessness by providing services to help people achieve and maintain permanent housing. The Domestic Violence Crisis Center is the only domestic violence agency serving Stamford, Norwalk, Westport, New Canaan, Darien, Wilton and Weston and provides a number of services to help victims of domestic abuse, as well as their children, ways to live in safety.
The backpacks were filled during the church’s coffee hour earlier this month.
Saint Andrew’s parish is located in downtown Stamford on Washington Boulevard.
