Richard “McSki” Laczkowski, 71, of Watseka, passed away Sept. 4, 2018.
He was born Nov. 8, 1946, in Stevens Point, Wis., but raised in Chicago, before making Watseka his home.
Richard’s parents were Stanley Laczkowski and Angeline (Woitalewicz) Laczkowski.
He served in the U.S. Navy, Air Force and the Reserves for 40 years before retiring. He had worked for Carpenters Union Local 62 afterward. Richard owned and operated McSki’s Bar until his passing.
He was an associate of the Knights of Columbus of Burnam, Watseka Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 23, lifetime member and past vice president of the AmVets Organization, Kankakee Bev. Association, Illinois Bev. Association and the State Line Riders Abate of Illinois.
Surviving are his son, Joshua Laczkowski, of Burnam; stepson, Christopher Merideth; stepdaughter, Tyla MClanahan; brother, Leonard Laczkowski, of Valparaiso, Ind.; sister, Marcianna and Joseph Grigas, of Milladore, Wis.; stepgrandchildren, Quinten, Cruz and Cheyenne; along with several nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at St. Edmund’s Catholic Church in Watseka, with the Rev. Michael Powell officiating.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
