Robert Lee “Sarge” Sargent, 81, of Cecilia, Ky., passed away unexpectedly Friday (Nov. 23, 2018) at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky.
He was born July 6, 1937, in Decatur.
Robert served in the U.S. Army for eight years.
He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company after 30 years and Blain’s Farm & Fleet after 16 years.
Sarge was a former volunteer fireman for KY 86 Fire Department and was a former member of Hardin County Sportsman Lake, Bradley Bourbonnais Sportsmen’s Club and the Cecilia Ruritan Club.
He was a husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. Sarge loved fishing and spending time with his wife and dog more than anything.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ernest and Ethel Wiles Sargent; one brother, William Sargent; and one sister, Viola Agee.
Surviving are his beautiful wife of 54 years, Carolyn Carter Sargent; two sons, Timothy (Carrie) Sargent, of White Mills, Ky., and Scott (Shelly) Sargent, of Kankakee; a daughter, Angalina (Leon Jr.) Fritz, of Elizabethtown, Ky.; three siblings, Violet (Toby) Massey, Leota (Larry) Snyder and Jim (Cheryl) Sargent; 10 grandchildren, Joseph, Joshua, Nick, Amanda, Michelle, Sarah, Andrew, Elijah, Emily and Lili; eight great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Genny, Ellie, Jameson, Landon, Cali, Judson and Maddox; and his beloved pet, Annie.
A memorial service took place Monday, Nov. 26, at Calvary Assembly of God in Elizabethtown, Ky.
