Report: Goods stolen from Brazil factory recovered
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — News reports say Brazilian police have located in Paraguay some of the more than $6 million worth of cellphones and computers stolen in a brazen nighttime raid of a Samsung electronics factory.
O Estado de S.Paulo newspaper cites police in Campinas as saying the goods were found during searches of four stores in the Paraguayan border city of Ciudad del Este. The police did not specify how much of the loot was recovered.
Thursday’s report says no arrests have yet been made.
The goods were stolen on July 7 by a gang of around 20 heavily armed men who captured employees at the Samsung plant in Campinas. They then overpowered security guards and trucked out the electronics.
Ciudad del Este is known as a hotbed of contraband goods.
