The Buzzard is turning 50, share your WMMS memories: Calling all readers

CLEVELAND, Ohio - In the day we sweat it out in the streets of a runaway American dream

At night we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines

Sprung from cages out on Highway 9,

Chrome wheeled, fuel injected and steppin’ out over the line

If you were in Cleveland in the ’70s and ’80s, you knew what hearing “Born to Run” meant ... the weekend was here!

Each Friday when the work week ended, Kid Leo kicked off  the weekend with Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run.”

It’s one of many memorable moments for the legendary station that helped make Cleveland the Rock and Roll Capital of the World.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of WMMS, we’re asking readers to share their favorite memories of 100.7.  Maybe you recall being blown away by hearing David Bowie or Roxy Music for the first time? Or attending a World Series of Rock or Coffee Break Concert. Or the  infamous Howard Stern “funeral” in 1994, or BuzzardFest or the Jeff & Flash morning show? And who can forget Murray Saul’s Get Down Rants: “Gotta -- gotta -- gotta -- get doooooowwwn!”

Our story will run Friday, Sept. 14. Email your memories to ldemarco@plaind.com. Or, leave them in the comments section below. Be sure to include your name and city of residence.
