Driver arrested in crash into Griffin Hospital’s ER

January 2, 2019

DERBY - Police said a Waterbury man was four times over the legal limit for alcohol when his vehicle crashed into the Griffin Hospital emergency room last June.

Stewart Paskiewich, 51, turned himself in to Derby police on a warrant for DUI. He will appear in Derby Superior Court on Wednesday.

“A breathalyzer test, administered shortly after the crash, listed Paskiewich’s BAC at .365 (which is more than 4 times the legal limit).” Derby police posted on Facebook.

The crash happened shortly after 1 a.m. on June 1.

The investigation revealed that Paskiewich was driving his vehicle up Division Street when he struck an unoccupied parked vehicle in the emergency room parking lot. The collision caused the parked vehicle to crash through the building.

No one was injured in the ER, but Paskiewich was treated for minor injuries.
