August 8, 2018

ROSH HA’AYIN, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug 8, 2018--ASOCS Ltd., a pioneer in Radio Access Network (RAN) virtualization, announces a new addition to its board of directors. Bill Smith, former President of AT&T Technology Operations, at AT&T Services, Inc. will be joining the ASOCS board as an industry expert and advisor.

Mr. Smith’s organization at AT&T included a team of over 100,000 employees responsible for business service and infrastructure, technology operations, planning and engineering, construction and optimization, service delivery and assurance and global foundational services. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President, Shared Services, in charge of mass market and enterprise operations, corporate real estate, procurement, regional wireline planning, and business planning and integration. Mr. Smith began his career with the former BellSouth Corp. in 1979, and has held numerous positions in technology, operations, marketing and public policy. He was involved in BellSouth’s advanced technology efforts, and was responsible for the company’s DSL, Internet and wholesale business units. Also at BellSouth, he served as Chief Technology Officer, where he was responsible for setting the overall technology direction for BellSouth’s core infrastructure.

“We are very excited to have Bill join our board of directors during this important time of development and growth,” said Gilad Garon, CEO, ASOCS. “Bill brings a vast amount of experience in large scale global operations with a tier 1 operator which will add tremendous value to ASOCS as we start to scale operations and expand deployments with operators around the world.”

“I am honored to join ASOCS’ board of directors and look forward to partnering with the management team as we continue to expand the company’s operations into new regions and markets,” said Bill Smith. “Operators have struggled to find more cost-effective ways to serve their enterprise customers, which is why a disruptive approach was clearly needed. Virtualized RAN solutions like ASOCS’ Cyrus have the potential to break through long-standing barriers to lower the cost of mobile networks in enterprises and unlock new business offerings for operators.”
