PLATTSMOUTH — An Elmwood woman who stole hundreds of lottery tickets from a local convenience store has pleaded guilty to felony theft.

Linda L. Hanson, 40, also agreed to pay $3,899.33 in restitution to Elmwood Convenience Store. Prosecutors agreed to recommend probation as part of the plea agreement.

Prosecutors said Hanson stolen lottery tickets 194 times from the convenience store, where she worked, then took them to Casey’s General Store locations in Eagle to try to validate them. Employees at those stores told investigators about Hanson’s unusually large number of visits — sometimes two or three times in one day.

Deputy Cass County Attorney Richard Fedde said Hanson took a total of $3,660 worth of lottery tickets from the Elmwood store, as well as $239.33 worth of other merchandise, including cigarettes.

Hanson entered the plea Monday. She’s scheduled for sentencing Nov. 26.
