2nd man pleads guilty in double fatal hit-and-hit
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A second man has pleaded guilty to his role in a hit-and-run in Connecticut earlier this year that left two women dead.
The Hartford Courant reports that 25-year-old Lorenzo Ivery will receive a five-year suspended sentence and three years of probation after pleading guilty Monday to second-degree hindering prosecution. Sentencing was scheduled for Jan. 3.
Police say he is was the owner of and a passenger in the car that struck 24-year-old Tina Fontanez and 23-year-old Catalina Melendez in Hartford on Jan. 16.
The car’s occupants fled the vehicle on foot and Ivery later called police to report that his car had been stolen, although officers were skeptical of his story.
The driver, 24-year-old Nathaniel Jefferson, pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree manslaughter.
