AP FACT CHECK: Trump off base on vets, health payments
WASHINGTON (AP) — Over the past week in Washington, most of the noise was made by internal strife in the Trump administration. But policy was aired as well, beyond the collapse of health care legislation.
AP Fact Checks find problems with some of the claims by President Donald Trump both on the policy and the personal front. For example, he bragged about a mission accomplished in veterans’ health care that has not been achieved.
He also cited “tremendous” costs to taxpayers from providing health care to transgender troops without providing evidence of that expense. A Rand study estimates such costs would be minimal.
