HUNTINGTON — The Huntington Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a Dec. 30 shooting along Doulton Avenue in Huntington.

Kilian Scott Nicks, 22, of Huntington, was jailed at 11:25 p.m. Thursday.

He was charged with malicious wounding and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. Bond had not been set as of Friday morning.

According to Huntington Police Capt. Rocky Johnson, the shooting was reported at about 9:30 p.m. Dec. 30 in the 1800 block of Doulton Avenue in the Fairfield neighborhood of Huntington.

Lisa Burnside, 51, of Huntington, suffered gunshot wounds in the shooting. After police Nicks arrived, Burnside was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where she underwent surgery.

According to the criminal complaint filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court, Burnside suffered injuries to her right shoulder as well as paralysis to her lower extremities. Once Burnside was able to communicate following surgery, she identified Nicks as her assailant from a photographic lineup as the person who shot her.

The criminal complaint also states Burnside told police Nicks allegedly fired at her while she was standing, with one round striking her, and then stood over her and fired, striking her with another round as she lay on the ground.

Johnson said earlier this week that the victim was listed in critical but stable condition.

Nicks was convicted on a felony count of delivery of a controlled substance in July 2017, according to a criminal complaint.

Nicks was apprehended without incident Thursday afternoon at a gas station in the 700 block of 6th Avenue in Huntington, according to Huntington Police Chief Hank Dial.

The investigation also led to the arrest of Mark Chandler and Semaj Markes-Leondre Figg, 27.

Chandler was charged with possession of marijuana, while Figg was charged with possession with the intent to deliver crack cocaine and heroin. Figg is on federal probation for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Police also executed a search warrant in the 700 block of 6th Avenue in regard to the shooting, where they recovered drugs. The vehicle the suspects were in was recovered and police are waiting to execute a search warrant on the vehicle.
