NORFOLK — Services for Donald A. Naslund, 90, Norfolk, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. The Rev. Rai Drake will officiate. Private burial will be held at a later date. Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force Honors Guard.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk.
Donald A. Naslund went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Donald was born in Brunswick on March 28, 1928, to Alfred and Elsie (Parks) Naslund. He graduated from Page High School in 1945. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950, serving for four years, three of which were in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He received his honorable discharge on Sept. 7, 1954, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
On Sept. 7, 1958, he married Lorraine Vaughn of Bloomfield at the United Methodist Church in Bloomfield. The couple had two children, Lynne and Kelly.
He was employed by the National Food Stores for 25 years, both as a store manager and district manager. In 1970, he resigned his position and became the owner of the Buck-a-Roo Motel in Norfolk. After seven years, he opened the Buck-a-Roo Antique Shop. He enjoyed the antique business and continued operating it for 40 years. He was a 50-year member of the United Methodist Church, serving the church in many capacities.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Norfolk and served on various church committees, as an usher and was a VFW member.
Survivors include his spouse of 60 years, Lorraine Naslund of Norfolk; a daughter, Lynne (R.J.) Bichlmeier of Neligh; a son, Kelly Naslund of Coleridge; five grandchildren, Dennis (Tina) Naslund, Derek Naslund, Darren Naslund, Amanda (Sven) Nelson and Jessica (David) Chamberlain; a granddaughter-in-law, Katie Naslund; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Elsie; his sisters, Ruth Ann Cole and LaVerle White; a brother, William O’Brien; a daughter-in-law, Denise Naslund; and a grandson, David Naslund.
Organist for the funeral will be Betty Frank, and soloist will be Linda Boullion.
