Turning colder with rain and snow Monday: Cleveland, Akron forecast

CLEVELAND, Ohio — It seems strange that the best day of October in Northeast Ohio arrived in December.

It reached 64 degrees Sunday in Cleveland, 63 in Akron, and the sun even managed to shine for a while.

That already was changing Sunday night as a cold front moves into the region. By 11 p.m. temperatures had fallen to the mid-40s and winds were gusting up to 25 mph, resulting in more than 2,000 customers losing power in Cuyahoga County.

The wind is expected to continue throughout the day Monday as temperatures continue to fall. The high will come at midnight at about 43 degrees and it will drop into the mid- to upper 30s by the afternoon.

Meanwhile, rain is possible during the morning and likely by the afternoon, and it could change into snow during the afternoon. Don’t expect much accumulation, however.

By Monday night temperatures will be in the low 30s and there are chances of snow through Tuesday morning.

That will be the story of this week ... highs will be in the low to mid-30s and there are chances of snow through Thursday. There’s a chance of sunshine Friday but it will remain cold, with a high of 30.
