Lack of diverse experience in Lamont’s new team
While The Advocate and letter writers debate the lack of or inclusion of diversity in Gov. Lamont’s new team, I see a severe lack of diversity in one other major arena — diversity of experience.
Out of the 13 team members highlighted in the Jan. 9 edition of the newspaper, only one person had career experience in the private sector where accountability is as important as purpose. All other persons on the team spent their careers in government, higher education and not-for-profit agencies. This does not forebode well for the State of Connecticut.
Will these new members be able to think outside of the box to remedy the problems of our state or will they lead us into higher taxes, tolls and more or greater fees and bigger government?
