Rembrandt And Other Old Master’s Sketch Missing At Art Fair
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) _ Two 16th century sketches by Dutch Old Masters, including a valuable Rembrandt, disappeared from a major art and antiques fair, organizers said.
″Three Men Walking To The Right,″ by Rembrandt, and ″The Fisherman’s Wife″ by Jacob de Gheyn II, were discovered missing from the back of a dealer’s booth hours before the 10-day PAN Amsterdam fair closed, spokeswoman Bertie Bisschops said Sunday.
The Rembrandt, in black chalk, and Gheyn’s pen-and-ink, are together worth an estimated $500,000, Bisschops said.
The dealer, who was not identified, said the works were there at closing time Saturday, she added.
