Maine wardens find missing woman on Mt Desert

July 28, 2013

MOUNT DESERT, Maine (AP) — Maine game wardens say an 81-year-old woman from England is alive and well after spending a night lost in the woods on Mount Desert Island.

Wardens say Janet Post of London was reported missing Saturday evening by two cousins after she failed to return to her summer residence in the town of Mount Desert following a walk to Long Pond.

She was located about 10 a.m. Sunday.

Wardens say she strayed from the foot path on Sunday and then walked to the top of a ridge where she spent the night before making her way back to the shoreline.

Meanwhile, wardens continue to search for a Tennessee woman. They say 66-year-old Geraldine Largay of Brentwood went missing last week on the Appalachian Trail.
