Pippen Expected To Play Friday

April 16, 1998

CHICAGO (AP) _ Scottie Pippen, who missed Wednesday night’s loss to Detroit because of a kidney stone, is expected to play Friday night at Philadelphia, the Chicago Bulls said Thursday.

Pippen, who started 42 games since returning from surgery on his left foot, did not accompany the Bulls for the 87-79 loss to the Pistons.

Scott Burrell started in Pippen’s place and scored 16 points.

The Bulls are trying to surpass Utah for best overall record in the league and subsequent home-court advantage throughout the playoffs for the third straight year. After Wednesday’s loss, the Bulls were one-half game behind the Jazz.
