Hazel C. Stueck, 91 of Columbus, died July 28, 2018, at Columbus Care and Rehabilitation.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1 at First United Methodist Church, 2710 14th St. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 31 at McKown Funeral Home and from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Dale Cemetery.
Hazel C. Stueck was born May 3, 1927, in Havelock to James and Alta (Parish) Brees. She married Harold Stueck on Aug. 13, 1949, in Lincoln. After settling in Columbus in 1975, she worked for many companies including Behlen Mfg. and Central Community College-Platte Campus before retiring in June of 1992. After retirement she worked for the Columbus Middle School in the cafeteria.
Hazel was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 131, American Legion Auxiliary Post 84, and the Eagles Club. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Ladies Circle where she helped out in church activities. Her hobbies included bowling, bingo, needle point and gardening.
Hazel is survived by daughter Corinne (Michael) Evans of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter Denise (David) Gernstein of Columbus, son Mike (Laura) Stueck of Lincoln, brother Eldon (Rose) Brees of Lincoln; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by husband Harold Stueck, parents James and Alta Brees, brother Cecil Brees, brother Robert Brees, sister Hilda Shaffer, and sister Venita Johnson.
