Boston church evacuated after children report feeling ill
BOSTON (AP) — A Roman Catholic church in Boston was evacuated after one child passed out and seven others reported feeling ill.
Three were taken to the hospital.
Boston fire officials responded to Holy Name church in the city’s West Roxbury neighborhood just before 11 a.m. Friday because the elementary school-aged children complained of feeling light-headed.
The three who went to the hospital had what fire officials called “non-life threatening injuries.” The other five were released to their parents.
The building was evacuated as a precaution.
Church officials say the children were there for a prayer service.
Firefighters conducted air quality tests and did not find anything unusual.
The reason the children fell ill remains under investigation.
